I would like to take the complete Cascades line and stop to see attractions on the way. Is this possible or do I need to book separate city tickets? Anyone who has done this and has suggestions for itinerary and places to stay?

Amtrak has a dedicated line for "tourism" questions and they are actually very good at helping a passenger plan a lovely trip.
