We are staying at Mau Kai. Is the drive to the airport longer than a hour? We would like to book a helicopter tour but just wondering how long I will take to get to helicopter.

Your condo is near Lahina so it should take you about 35-45 min depending on traffic. If you leave early in the morning the traffic is very light and it’s off season now.
It looks like the front seats in the helicopter offer much better views than the back seats, but specific seats are not bookable in advance. Apparently seats are assigned by weight using the weight and balance of the helicopter as the principal determinant of seat assignment. Any comment on specific seats?

Aloha, how much should we tip the pilot? My uncle said $20 per person is what they tipped 15 years ago when they flew in Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. They said their pilot was good and personal, but didn’t turn the helicopter so both sides could see. Just wondering if we should tip more if we are given an exceptional tour. We have used them 3 times, and you get incredible views and very informative pilots. I would try to go in the morning as the weather is usually better at higher altitudes at this time of day.I would not advise driving yourself on the Road to Hana. It's much better to let a tour company do the driving,
