You may be able to find a tour that will take you, but more than likely your best bet is to rent a car and drive. When up there I saw a couple vans with groups, but most people were in their own cars.I'm sure you can rent from the cruise port and getting around is quite easy because there is just one road that rings the lobe of that side of the island.
Hi there, Im just curious. How did you find a tour guide? We are staying in St Anne and will do a day trip to Basse Terre. Trying to figure out the best way to get around so we can see as much as possible! Thanks

Hi there, I didn't actually use a trail guide. Do you have a car? I just drove to the traverse road and the places I went were very clearly marked off the side of that road. If you want something more adventurous I heard that there were guides that do trips to the volcano. If you have some time before you leave I would suggest calling the Langley Hotel in Fort Royal (near Deshaie) their front desk staff speaks English for the most part and they run trips from the hotel. They could likely tell you who the good guides are. I found myself checking in over there a couple of times just because of the English capacity. There is another operation called Yalodi, it is one guy, he does kayak trips in the Mangroves as well as Canyoning trips in the park. Definitely more adventurous than I am but the reviews were good. You will find listings on trip advisor. Just as an FYI, when people talk about the traffic between the two islands they are not kidding. It took me two hours to drive from Deshaie to the Saint Anne area, the traffic clears up in the afternoon but if you are trying to go from one island to the other in the morning during regular commenting time you have to either leave early or prepare to be in traffic.Have a great great time. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. It is hard to find information on line and most of what I found was from other reviews and friends who had just been.
