Go in the wet seasons when you can go in a mokoro canoe down the canals the elephants create by walking through the tall grasses. Amazing place to be.M6983QDmarcom的完整评论

I have the chance to travel for safari in the Delta in either mid April or late August. Which would you recommend, and why?

We went in October and it was dry, less vegetation and good viewing. I am told the nights can get cold in July/August. Got this from the internet:- The Okavango Delta, Moremi and Chobe are Botswana's most popular parks. The best time to visit them is from May to September, during the Dry season and winter, resulting in more moderate temperatures. In addition, the Okavango is flooded from June to October.
Hi! We are going to the Okavango in July and are trying to decide on a mokoro company, a plane/helicopter company etc. We are looking for a great experience, but also bang for our buck (not looking to take expensive tours with huge profit margins for rich companies). Any suggestions? Thanks a lot for any help you can provide! Matt

Hi Matt, July is a pretty busy month as the floodwaters have arrived but I would suggest a) you can base yourself in Maun and stay at a Backpackers’s and do your activities from there or b) depending on your budget ( I know you don’t want to spend too much!) but if you could look at flying/ driving into a camp from Maun possibly an overland trip with a local operator? Rates are good and you will enjoy. Please let me know...thanks

I think everyone will have a different story based on individual experience with their respective tours. During our time there we went with Sun Safari's who hire subcontractors for the job. You might try researching reviews of individual tours for your answer. In the end it's based on local knowledge, how long they have done the job, how long your out there during the day and just some plain good luck with seeing elusive lions and leopards. It's a big area and animals move about constantly.
The flying time between camps varies depending on the camp and areas, with some journeys being a simple hop taking just 5 minutes. Most transfers are around 20 minutes...
