I wish I could provide some insight into your question about what Old Niagara is like in April; I was there only one time - in mid-July of 2018. It was rainy and we needed something warm under our rain coats as it is right on the wide and sweeping Niagara River. I'd recommend looking at weather reports for April, for the last 2-3 years to get some kind of an idea of what's usual weather there. Seeing and being at Old Fort Niagara is well worth the drive and he time. Enjoy!
