I really like this place, I'm 67 years old and probably don't have a chance to do it again, so I have to come back here quickly!Thuan V的完整评论

Wow, this two mile hike was definitely a workout. Steep inclines to get up to the top, but at the end worth the entire hike. I am not a great hiker, but definitely a work out.katillac74的完整评论

Rattlesnake Mountain is part of the approximately 11-mile long ridge. You can access it from either end. From Seattle, drive east on I-90 to exit 32 for 436th Avenue SE. Turn right onto 436th Avenue SE, also signed as Cedar Falls Road SE. Proceed about four miles down the road to the Rattlesnake Lake parking lot on the right. or To Snoqualmie Point Park: take I-90 east to Exit 27. At the end of the off-ramp, go right and follow the road to the end. Go through the gate on the right to enter the trailhead. Straight ahead is a separate parking area for Snoqualmie Point.
Can anyone please advise me on what may be the best time of year for this would be? I was originally thinking mid to late September ( mild weather but not peak tourist season), but I have read that Rattlesnake lake drys up in the fall/winter months. Does anyone know if in September the lake is still full? I have also read about how crowded this trail can be, so does anyone have any recommendations on how to best avoid the crowds? Or time of year to best avoid the crowds, but still ho\ike in somewhat mild weather? I have read online that the trail opens at dawn, so I suppose getting there right at start of the day would be the best option? Thank you very much for any advice or input you can give me!

Hello Danielle -- The lake does go down a bit in summer and fall but it should be doing very nicely after recent rains. Yes, the trail can be busy of weekends, particularly if pleasant weather. We hike it year-round, often with grandkids -- an all weather trail. For most folks, the lake is not the prime feature. Suggest start before 10 am and you should both find a parking spot and not find it so crowded going up...nice weekend, start earlier. You'll have it to yourself at dawn except for trail runners. Other options are Poo Poo Point, Little Si and W Tiger for similar good trails but similar crowds if you get a late start. You may wish to try The Mountaineers as many hikes are led and you can try a couple without joining the club. There are Seattle and Foothills branches, both with strong hiking programs.
