That said, 80 lbs is the minimum weight required. For safety and insurance purposes we cannot accept people under the minimum weight. Your chances of being bitten by a shark or stung by a stingray are nearly zero, here's why: #1 Sea Trek is a group activity that's done in the same place every day where there is a lot of human activity. While the fish are used to humans here, predatory sharks will stay very far away as they don't like all the bubbles and people. Also, you are not on a shark's menu. #2 Stepping on a stingray. Your guide will instruct you to shuffle your feet as you walk. The stingray will feel the vibrations and swim away way before you even get close. #3 Our guide will never place you in any kind of danger. It's important to tell your guide of any anxieties or concerns that you may have. They will extend their underwater comfort level to you so you may enjoy your Sea Trek adventure. Hi there! Average water temperature in January is 79˚ (between 77˚ and 82˚). You are from Pennsylvania so you probably have a higher tolerance over us locals. Body mass is another factor. A thin wetsuit should be more than enough. I personally think it's better to error on the side of comfort and enjoy the experience than to shiver throughout the entire dive. That said, it may be a waste of space. LOL
