Great backpacker town altho many people of all ages. Amazing cliffs surround the town. Very busy tours so either go early or late on boat trip and early or late (or late morning) to Hoa lupenkiND的完整评论

You can arrange through an agent such as whoever you book your cruise to take a shuttle bus to Tam Coc from the dock. The cost is about $20 US. It takes about 4 hours? Stay at the Tam Coc Boutique Hotel. They will pick you up and take you to the hotel. Eat at Fathers or any one of the nearby rec. restaurants. We stayed for 3 days free bikes from the hotel. Two river cruises,temples, hikes etc. Two nights min. Catch a shuttle taxi to Hanoi train to Danang though a bus or plane is much faster.
I'm looking to visit in July 2019. Where does the boat tour down the river start from? All blogs and website point to a place a little South West of Ninh Binh centre but this looks like a lake (shaped like the letter "M"). The blogs and travel guides mention the Ngo Dong River but on a map I can't find this, nor does it look like any river connects to the lake. Is the lake boat tour separate? Many thanks

It certainly is a river, but there are several places where you can take a boat but the main one is pretty well in the town centre. There may be a lake near by but we did not see it.
Why is it the headline review we see on the Tam Coc boat tour is a five star review from 2017, when the boat tour is being panned all over the place, as an uncomfortable couple of hours of being pestered by sellers and people looking for tips. Why don't you post something more recent, and more accurate?

Two other people from the same place at which we were staying also enjoyed the trip and we spoke about it over a meal together in the evening. It was one of the highlights during our tour of Vietnam.
