A man caught red-handed breaking into a Blantyre house claimed the occupiers owed money. Connar MacPherson, 33, of Burnbrae Road, Blantyre, was jailed for a year at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

Emergency services have sealed off a busy road in Blantyre after a car crashed into a house, causing a gas leak. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on Glasgow Road on Sunday morning.
