(Bloomberg) -- Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. has launched a bidding process for dozens of new widebody aircraft, according to people familiar with the matter, pitting Airbus SE against Boeing Co.

787 Dreamliner. The fleet-wide inspection of Cathay’s 48 A350 aircraft will mean that some of its planes will be out of service "for several days,” impacting schedules, the company said.
