A rare minke whale was euthanized on Tuesday, April 8, after getting stuck in shallow waters near the Emeryville Marina in California's San Francisco Bay. This comes after three other gray whales were found dead in the area within the past few days.

What appeared to be a rare type of whale that got stuck in shallow waters near the Emeryville Marina Tuesday morning was euthanized after struggling into the afternoon, officials with the Marine Mammal Center said.

A rare juvenile minke whale repeatedly stranded in the San Francisco Bay was euthanized as officials say the mammal had little chance for survival.
