Area residents who get their drinking water from a private well can get it tested for nitrate free on April 29. Nitrate is a common contaminant found in many wells throughout Minnesota.

For 86% of Nebraskans, groundwater is their primary source of drinking water. When nitrates, often coming from fertilizer, seep in to groundwater, the cancer-causing agent can stay there for decades.
