State Sen. Parker Space was hospitalized and then flown to a clinic in New York after the encounter at Space Farms Zoo & Museum.

The group was on Shired Island in Dixie County when it encountered the snake, and the pain from the bite was so intense, Humphlett said it “felt like an alligator,” WCJB reports.
