The assistant director of bands at Southern University has been put on administrative leave amid an investigation into the death of a band member who collapsed during a fraternity ritual.

A student and band member at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died during an off-campus incident, an online statement from University Chancellor John K. Pierre confirmed.
