Big Island artist and instructor Patti Pease Johnson will teach the techniques of pastel paintings and drawings in a Soft Pastel Still Life workshop from 9 a.m. to noon March 14 at Volcano Art Center.

The Volcano House and the Volcano Art Center Gallery will remain open during the project, however, and a temporary visitor center will be set up down the road near Kīlauea Military Camp.

Kiluaea Visitor Center restrooms, sidewalks, the water station and about half of its parking will be unavailable during the project. Volcano House and the Volcano Art Center Gallery will remain open.
