Juan Soto’s first at-bat for the New York Mets gave some indication as to why they signed him to reportedly the biggest contract in American sports history.

Juan Soto has homered in his first spring training at-bat for his new team, hitting a solo shot to left-center field in the first inning for the New York Mets against Houston.

After the New York Mets signed Juan Soto to the largest contract in MLB history, he made another deal with 25-year-old infielder Brett Baty. Soto has worn No. 22 during the entirety of his MLB career with the Yankees, Padres, and Nationals. But that number was already taken by Baty, who has played for the Mets since 2022.
