Astronomers catalog it as M82 and NGC 3034. Last week, I talked about Bode’s Galaxy (M81). Well, point your telescope 37′ due north of M81, and you might think you’re seeing a galaxy explode.
The image of nearby galaxy Messier 81 was captured by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. The galaxy is located in the northern constellation of Ursa Major (which also includes the Big Dipper).
