Busti (/ ˈ b ʌ s t aɪ / BUST-eye) is a town in Chautauqua County, New York, United States. The population was 7,521 at the 2020 census. [2] The town is named after Paul Busti, an official of the Holland Land Company, but its pronunciation uses a long i sound at the end, a frequent alteration in the names of several upstate New York towns.

The Town of Busti is a part historic village, part small rural town; divided only by an evolving and vibrant commercial corridor. An annual visitor highlight is the Busti Apple Festival, held the last Sunday in September.

The southwestern section of New York State is part of a vast section of land claimed by Massachusetts following the Revolutionary War. Robert Morris acquired it in 1791 and, after settlement with the Native Americans in 1797, sold it to the Holland Land Company.

2023年3月13日 · This month I am going to depart from concentrating on a particular item in our collection to call attention to my home town of Busti which is celebrating its bicentennial this year. The original grants to the Duke of York which created the colony of New York didn’t reach west of the Delaware River.

Historic, operating water turbine Grist Mill built in 1839, and the Busti Historical Society Museum. Open by appointment for guided tours, participants receive their own souvenir bag of freshly ground cornmeal from the day of their visit!
