2020年10月16日 · About 4 years ago, I bought several 2-packs of Kingsford charcoal lighter fluid from either Sams or Costco. They have been stored since in the shed - no sunlight. When I got one out, the top of the plastic bottle had become brittle and broke, spilling lighter fluid everywhere. All the other bottles are the same way.

2011年1月16日 · Lighter Fluid is basically VM&P Naptha. Buying VM&P Naptha by the quart or gallon is much cheaper than buying the little cans of lighter fluid. I have several little cans that I keep filled from quarts of VM&P Naptha. I use it mainly for removing labels and masking tape because it dissolves the glue without harming plastic.

Ever burned butane (lighter fluid) or kerosene in a wick...
2021年2月17日 · Butane is liquid, like lighter fluid. I mean, it is used as lighter fluid. But it's boiling point is about 30 degrees, so unless you're using it in sub freezing conditions, it's going to convert from liquid to gas and either pressurize the vessel it's in or escape into the air. Not practical and a fire hazard. Alcohol should work well.

2008年12月7日 · Zippos are nice to have cause you can put nearly any kind of flammable fluid in there and it'll burn (just don't use charcoal barbecue lighter fluid - apparently that'll make your Zippo explode). I've used methanol, and once, when I young, drunk, and impatient I used a few sprays of cologne to fuel a Zippo so I could light my cigarette.

2010年7月18日 · When in WWII, they had no lighter fluid for their Zippos, so what they would do in the field, would be to take the guts out of the Zippo, and tie a small string through the holes in the “guard” then lower the Zippo guts into the gas tank of the nearest truck. Let it soak for a minute, pull it up, and wipe it off. Problem solved.

2009年9月19日 · This is a great vehicle survival tool, as it will heat the passenger compartment if needed. Just remember open flame eats oxygen....and between hypothermia and oxygen deprivation....a very deadly cocktail. I survived a day and a half in a car during a Minnesota blizzard with a hubcap and a bottle of charcoal lighter fluid.
