How many cymbals do you really need? | [DFO] Drum Forum
2020年12月2日 · I have quite a few cymbals at home, but on a gig, I rarely use more than two or three plus hi-hats. Maybe for a fusion-type gig, which I never have, I might bring china, splash, bell cymbals, as well as a small crash, but mostly it's jazz with a house kit, so the classic two-crash-rides set-up, maybe plus a flat ride, works best.
Flying with Cymbals | [DFO] Drum Forum
2017年4月23日 · You want those cymbals to sit with the bells nested throughout the journey. Difficult to keep the smaller cymbals from shifting around. It can be hard to imagine just how much cymbals are going to want to move around in a box - particularly when being tossed around (which they will be).
Weighing Cymbals - [DFO] Drum Forum
2016年2月20日 · For large cymbals, you can put the cymbal directly on it, then reach under and press the middle button (tare?). The scale will zero out. Then you remove the cymbal and the scale reads the negative weight. For example, if it says -3,000g, the cymbal weighs 3,000 grams. Or you can rig something up to raise the cymbal enough to read it.
Choosing which cymbal for adding rivets - [DFO] Drum Forum
2022年12月31日 · Lots of talk about rivets lately. I've been going back and forth about which cymbals to add rivets to as I want one or two sizzles/swishes while using brushes. My current top two candidates are Bosphorus: 19" Traditional thin crash and 20" Pang Thang. But then I vacillate, replacing the thin crash with an 18" Antique Jazz Crash/Ride.
What do you think of practice/low volume cymbals? - [DFO] Drum …
2014年1月22日 · I think they originally started out as their e-cymbals and they found out that drummers were using them for low volume applications. They do this job really well. You can use sticks where you might need to use hot rods/brushes and overall -- they allow the whole band to turn way down in small bar/coffee house/corporate gig settings (which is ...
Cymbal Cleaning - [DFO] Drum Forum
2005年8月5日 · So I brought my cymbals home from our big band rehearsal space for cleaning. Before and after pics are attached. Cymbals are all A's of various ages, mostly purchased on ebay. 22" Medium, 20" Swish (70's era), 18" thin crash, 16" thin crash, 14" thin crash, 14" hats (2), and 8" splash. I clean them every several months, so it doesn't take long.
Cymbals- Keyholing - [DFO] Drum Forum
2024年5月9日 · I have been drumming now for nearly 50 years and one thing I've never truly understood is the absolute aversion for cymbals with keyholing. When I started drumming, drums and cymbals were what you could get- mismatched drums and keyholed cymbals were the norm. I fully appreciate that a perfectly...
I need mallets for cymbals. | [DFO] Drum Forum
2016年12月4日 · It surprised me, but they are smoother than my yarn wrapped rattan mallets. Really, they are. Even one handed swells. I think the reason is that they get the cymbal moving with very little impact, vs having to hit a little harder with the yarn. But that may have to do with my cymbal choice as well, I'm playing cymbals about as thin as they get.
Cymbal Rivets - [DFO] Drum Forum
2011年5月16日 · I'm looking at some new cymbals, I've got my eyes set on a sexy sabian AA 20" raw ride and some zildjan amir hi hats. I was contemplating putting some rivets on the hi hat, maybe on the back edge and on the bottom cymbal and 3 on the ride cymbal. LET ME KNOW YOUR OPINIONS AND SHARE EXPERIENCE...
Keith Moon Cymbals - [DFO] Drum Forum
2016年7月7日 · Moon mainly used Paiste cymbals, but was known to occasionally use Zildjian. He first used Paiste in the late ’60s. The issue was not the brand of the cymbals, but the durability. If a certain cymbal broke, a thicker one was bought. He is known to have used Paiste Formula 602 crash cymbal, which is mainly used in jazz.
