2024年10月10日 · Hurricane Ivan Overall, it produced 120 tornadoes, surpassing the record of 117 that was previously held by Hurricane Beulah during the 1967 Atlantic hurricane season. Ivan also produced 16 more tornadoes than Hurricane Frances, whose associated tornado outbreak struck many of the same regions about ten days earlier.

2024年10月10日 · The only sustained hurricane force wind was on the immediate coast near Tampa/Sarasota. However, 100-110 mph wind gusts extended all along the track to Daytona Beach to Cape Canaveral. A hurricane is defined by the 1-min average wind, not the highest wind gusts. Wind gusts can produce significant damage.

The Coastal Weather Research Center at the University of South Alabama has produced a DVD on Hurricane Ivan entitled "Hurricane Ivan: A Portrait from Earth and Space." This DVD is available for $20 at many locations in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. The DVD is also available by mail. Here is a link to the site.

2024年7月2日 · Ivan might have been the last major hurricane to hit Jamaica directly but Dean also passed just south of Jamaica. Ivan also passed just to the south of Jamaica. The last major hurricane to make direct landfall in Jamaica was Gilbert in 1988:

2024年10月24日 · Thanks for the additional information. In the 2004 image you posted, hurricane Ivan made landfall in Gulf Shores, Alabama instead of Florida. I know it's a bit silly since we're talking about a distance of about 20 miles to the Florida border so in terms of Florida impacts it doesn't really change anything.

2024年11月18日 · And then there's Milton. Arguably the first hurricane in a while to really test the "Tampa Shield." Causing tornado outbreaks in Florida with storms that eerily resembled those you normally see in Oklahoma and Kansas. But most memorably, how Milton became the Atlantic's first sub-900 mbar hurricane since Wilma. That was one nuke of a storm.
