You can also use 15 amp circuit breakers, but I would not unless a 15 amp breaker was explicitly called for. "Home Depot told me to re-run the line for the electric heater with 12-3 bec. it is for 20 amp and thats the minimum I can use."

2005年12月5日 · Any post dealing with wire gauge seems to always wind up in passionate disagreement. To me 10 gauge is extreme overkill (14 AWG would be fine) but if you don't mind the small extra cost and have the ability to install that heavy a cable, then why not.

2019年8月7日 · Regarding a few lost strands, audio users and electricians have different standards. 12 gauge wire is rated for 20 Amps; to put 20 Amps into a 4 Ohm speaker would take 1600 watts! For a long time for the extra resistance due to the few lost strands to cause excessive heating. That's the electrician's concern.

2006年12月12日 · I am starting to wire my basement and my father bought my electrical supplies for me. He ended up getting me 12-2 instead of 14-2 wire. I don't have the receipt for the purchase yet and was wondering if it is okay to use the 12-2 if i have the 20 amp outlets, other receptacles and a 20 amp breaker. Advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
