I've rebooted multiple times and experimented with different dongles and cables after being concerned that I was somehow using bad cables or oversaturating my docks and hubs.

Has a built-in rechargeable battery and comes with a Lightning type port to charge it with. There is no 2020 model. Most likely, you have the 2015 model.
