Bruce Robert Spence[1] (born 17 September 1945) is a New Zealand-born Australian actor. [2] . Spence has amassed over 100 film and television credits and has also acted in theatre. [3] Spence won an AFI Award for Best Actor for his role in the 1971 comedy Stork. [3]

At 20, Bruce moved to Australia, where to his surprise he was accepted into the National Gallery of Victoria Art School. Bruce's mother, Olga, was a painter and potter. In 1969 Bruce joined a ragtag group working at the tiny La Mama theatre in Melbourne.

Bruce Spence (b. 1945), actor, made his film debut in the title role of Tim Burstall's Stork (1971), its title relating neatly, if coincidentally, to his 2.01m frame. Spence began acting at Melbourne's experimental theatre venue, La Mama, while studying painting and printmaking at the National Gallery Art School.
