Basic cardiac pacing, pacemaker functions and settings
The base rate is the lowest heart rate allowed by the pacemaker; intrinsic cardiac activity below the base rate will trigger pacing. The base rate is usually set to 60 beats/min, meaning that the pacemaker will wait just 1000 ms after each depolarization before it delivers a pulse.

2022年12月11日 · There are 3 basic kinds of pacemakers: Single chamber. One lead attaches to the upper or lower heart chamber. Dual-chamber. Uses 2 leads, 1 for the upper and 1 for the lower chamber. Biventricular pacemakers (used in cardiac resynchronization therapy). Modes of Cardiac Pacing.

2023年7月8日 · This cardiac pacing device is placed in the chest to help control the heartbeat. Know when you might need one.
Cardiac Pacemakers: Function, Troubleshooting, and Management:
In this first part of the 2-part review of cardiac pacing, we explore the state-of-the-art: the basics of pacing physiology, pacing modes and indications, periprocedural management, complications, basic troubleshooting, perioperative management for nonpacemaker procedures, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) of patients with pacemakers.

2015年5月5日 · They can also perform anti-tachycardia pacing (ATP) in response to VT which is not immediately life-threatening to try and reduce the number of shocks. This involves pacing the ventricle for a short burst faster than the VT circuit, terminating the rhythm.
Pacemaker Indications - StatPearls - NCBI Bookshelf
2023年8月14日 · Pacemakers are electronic devices that stimulate the heart with electrical impulses to maintain or restore a functional heartbeat. Pacemakers were initially external and involved the placement of subcutaneous electrodes for patients with inappropriate intrinsic cardiac pacemaker activity and-or abnormal conducting tissue.
Modes of cardiac pacing: Nomenclature and selection
Pacemaker nomenclature and the clinical application of common pacing modes and functions will be reviewed here. The types of permanent pacemaker systems are discussed separately. (See "Permanent cardiac pacing: Overview of devices and indications" .)
Basics of cardiac pacing: selection and mode choice - PMC
Basics of cardiac pacing: key points. Dual chamber pacing is not always the optimal pacing mode, but has significant advantage (in respect of quality of life, heart failure occurrence, atrial fibrillation, stroke risk and mortality) in specific clinical scenarios
2021 ESC Guidelines on cardiac pacing and cardiac resynchronization therapy
2021年8月29日 · Whereas some of the situations requiring pacing are clear and have not changed over the years, many others have evolved and have been the subject of extensive recent research, such as pacing after syncope, pacing following transcatheter aortic valve implantation, cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) for heart failure (HF) and for prevention ...
Cardiac Pacemakers - Cardiac Pacemakers - MSD Manual …
Pacemakers sense electrical events and respond when necessary by delivering electrical stimuli to the heart. Permanent pacemaker leads are placed via thoracotomy or transvenously, but some temporary emergency pacemaker leads can be placed on the chest wall. Pacemaker functionality also is included in implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs).
