Cardiac Sarcomere Signaling in Health and Disease - PMC
The cardiac sarcomere is a triumph of biological evolution wherein myriad contractile and regulatory proteins assemble into a quasi-crystalline lattice to serve as the central point upon which cardiac muscle contraction occurs. This review focuses on the many signaling components and mechanisms of regulation that impact cardiac sarcomere function.
Cardiac Myocytes and Sarcomeres - CV Physiology
The thin filaments are composed of three different proteins: actin, tropomyosin, and troponin (Figure 2). Together, these are termed the regulatory protein complex. The actin is a globular protein arranged as a chain of repeating units, forming two strands of an alpha helix.
Cardiac sarcomere mechanics in health and disease - PMC
In the heart, mutations in sarcomeric proteins are responsible for the majority of genetically inherited cardiomyopathies. Here, we review the major determinants of cardiac sarcomere mechanics including the key structural components that contribute to active and passive tension.

Cardiac Disorders and Pathophysiology of Sarcomeric Proteins
2018年10月31日 · In this review, we will focus on the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in cardiac disorders at the level of the sarcomeric proteins, with special emphasis on human tissue and contractile protein phosphorylation.
Sarcomeric protein isoform transitions in cardiac muscle: A …
2015年1月1日 · In this mini-review, we summarized isoform transitions of several most widely examined sarcomeric proteins including myosin, actin, troponin, tropomyosin, titin and myosin binding protein-C, and the consequence of these abnormal isoform transitions.
Under construction: the dynamic assembly, maintenance, and …
Mutations to and deficiency of molecular chaperones and the associated factors charged with sarcomere maintenance commonly lead to sarcomere structural disarray and the progression of heart disease, highlighting the necessity of effective …
Targeting the sarcomere in inherited cardiomyopathies
2022年3月18日 · Variants in genes encoding sarcomeric proteins are a leading cause of cardiomyopathies that are characterized by protein-specific molecular mechanisms of disease. Sarcomeric proteins can be...
Build it up–Tear it down: protein quality control in the cardiac ...
2009年2月2日 · In this review, we highlight the dynamic interplay between sarcomere-specific chaperones and ubiquitin-dependent degradation of sarcomere proteins that is necessary in order to maintain structure and function of the cardiac sarcomere.
(PDF) Cardiac Sarcomere Signaling in Health and Disease
2022年12月19日 · Currently, a new focus emerging in the field is inter-myofilament signaling, and we discuss here the important mediators of this mechanism, including myosin-binding protein C and titin. As the...
