He was at one point the top 135’er in the world, but i wouid think his mma wrestling would have been better based on the vid. Maybe he transitioned to mma too early to fulfill his potential in wrestling. Thoughts?

Charles Oliveira is a BJJ/striking guy but he went on to outwrestle Michael Chandler. Demian Maia pulled guard a lot in sport jiu-jitsu but went on to trash around Chael Sonnen and D1 wrestlers.

2015年10月3日 · Grappling, scrambles, defense doesnt just fall off a cliff and Rob did escape once or twice but Khamzat kept using those escapes to keep trapping Rob. With Yoel Rob could disengage much easier because Yoels wrestling didn't adapt that highly to MMA. He was still a good wrestler but not Khamzats level MMA wrestling.

2015年9月5日 · Greco-Roman footwork does not translate to MMA at all. GR wrestling requires practically chest to chest proximity. Getting that close to another fighter, particularly the notoriously heavy hands of heavyweights can end a fight very quickly. I'll take a Freestyle or collegiate wrestler with great leg attacks and top control any day of the week.
