Mestizo art (Spanish: arte mestizo) is syncretic art based on European styles adapting to Indigenous sensibilities in the Americas and the Philippines.

The painted and gilt stuccowork in southern Mexico during this period, especially that found in the states of Puebla and Oaxaca, have also been described as Mestizo style.

Peña presents the face as a symbol beneath an abstract pattern that resembles Southwest textiles. By the 1980s, Chicana and Chicano thinkers viewed these early claims of mestizaje as a romantic ideal that obscured the troubling history of colonialism and the lived experiences of Native peoples across the Americas.
