Anyone know anything about the Olds Ambassador trombone?
2019年10月11日 · Olds openly exclaimed that every instrument was manufactured with the exact same high quality tolerances and techniques, meaning the Ambassador is as high a quality an instrument as their pro models like the Olds Super, Olds Radio, Olds recording Olds Opera. The Ambassador was "Marketed" as a student level "Priced" instrument.

2013年4月28日 · My doctor is a trombone buff. He always talks highly about the Ambassador. Vintage Olds horns are amazing! I have a 1959 (as far as I know) Olds Recording, and it is incredible. I'm taking it to college next year, even though I'm playing bass trombone in band and jazz band there. It's unlaquered, and I love the way it looks.

2015年7月23日 · My horn is so consistent across the range of the instrument, that I have played gigs where I play both Lead trombone parts all the way down to low bass trombone stuff comfortably with my Greg Black 6 1/2 AL mouthpiece. I could never imagine playing any of the low stuff on my King Liberty or Olds Studio, let alone switching back and forth.

2022年5月17日 · It looks like a Fullerton in good condition! Built like a tank, too. Don’t get rid of it, even when you are forced/pressured to buy a large bore F-attachment horn to blend with future ensembles. That Olds Ambassador will be great in marching band, jazz band, and pep band.

2019年11月10日 · Those babies can do anything. The Super model will be a bit brighter, nice for lead playing, but you can't go wrong with an Olds Recording model Trombone or Trumpet. That said, wtf does "too bulky to be a solid jazz instrument". My Trombone performance with an emphasis in jazz instructor in college played an F attachment Bach 88h for EVERYTHING.

2023年12月20日 · Olds horns were made in LA and Fullerton, CA until they were acquired by whatever parent conglomerate was buying everyone out in the 70s or 80s. It has the bigger case and a hexagonal weight, which blessing usually reserved for their higher end models, but I doubt there's literature out there about this horn to prove or disprove my theory.

2017年5月22日 · About a year ago I picked up an Olds super trombone. Got a small bore and one of the 12 sided slides instead of a round cross section. I've had a great time with it (apart from paying the bill to get the a dent out of the unique slide).

This one would be great for a doubler out there looking for an inexpensive, but quality jazz horn or something similar. most of the original lacquer is still there, with a few spots of cosmetic wear on the handslide brace and other high-contact areas.
