A gastric chief cell, peptic cell, or gastric zymogenic cell is a type of gastric gland cell that releases pepsinogen and gastric lipase. It is the cell responsible for secretion of chymosin (rennin) in ruminant animals and some other animals. [1]

2023年8月8日 · Parietal cells refer to epithelial cells in the stomach that secrete hydrochloric acid (HCl) and intrinsic factor. In contrast, chief cells refer to cells in the stomach that synthesize and release the proenzyme pepsinogen.

Immunocytochemical studies have demonstrated the existence of five different types of peptic cells in man. These are chief and mucus neck cells in fundic gland mucosa, the pyloric glands in antral mucosa, and the cardiac and Brunner's glands.
