August 2023- The City Council has authorized to execute the agreement with Paul Halajian Architects for the design of the Porterville Library. The new facility will be located on West Olive Ave, across from the South County Justice Center (behind the Vallarta Shopping Center).

Porterville incorporated in 1902. The following year the Inter Se Society established a library, a long time goal of the club. At first little more than a reading room, it was located in upstairs office space, initially in the Taylor block and later over the Bank of America.

The Friends of the Library is an organization that helps raise money to support special projects for the Porterville Library and the Literacy Program. Donations of used books, movies and music can be given to the Friends of the Library for the monthly book sale.
