The light also keeps shining when i plug it out of the the hard disk, so my guess is the adapter is recognized, but the disk is not. The disk should work, i have so far always been using it internally (SATA cable from the motherboard, you know).

Connected the first WD 500 to my Dell Inspiron (Win 10 Home) using Wavlink and proceeded to clone. Worked perfectly and replaced the drive with the SSD.
