Dec 16, 2012 · With a high precision sound card like the ASUS Xonar Essence you can do very well in the audio range. I know of several people who bypassed the ac-coupling caps on their sound card to get DC-coupling. But as already discussed, with a max sample rate of 192KHz, not much use as an oscilloscope in my mind.

Apr 26, 2023 · Those are 5V regulators. They can take a positive DC voltage from 7V to 35V and reduce it to 5V. An oscilloscope & probe should be able to take a large range of voltages and polarities (+- 50mV all the way up to +-100V or higher, both AC and DC).

Oct 27, 2011 · So far I have acquired the software (Electroacoustic toolbox) with a suitable oscilloscope function and I have an external M-Audio Firewire Solo sound card with a max. unbalanced input of 1.3Vrms and 150?Ohm line in impedance. As probes I am using some 18AWG wire with a mono 1/4 jack at the sound card's end and croc clips/RCA plug at the other.

Sound cards are AC coupled so you will need to bypass the caps at least to see below 10Hz. Apr 19, 2018 · As said above, don't forget to properly protect your inputs. You could fry your sound card or even worse, your computer. Unless it's just for fun, or you only want to deal with audio signals (in which case a good sound card would be WAY better than an oscilloscope), I would strongly suggest investing in a small oscilloscope instead, though.
