Sir Surendranath Banerjee (Bengali: সুরেন্দ্রনাথ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়; 10 November 1848 – 6 August 1925), often known as Rashtraguru (lit. 'Teacher of the Nation') was an Indian nationalist leader during the British Rule.

Sir Surendranath Banerjea (born Nov. 10, 1848, Calcutta [now Kolkata], India—died Aug. 6, 1925, Barrackpore, near Calcutta) was one of the founders of modern India and a proponent of autonomy within the British Commonwealth.

Sir Surendranath Banerjea was born on 10 November 1848 in Calcutta. He got his school education in the Parental Academic Institution, attended chiefly by Anglo-Indian boys. He graduated from the Calcutta University in 1868, and proceeded to England to compete for the Indian Civil Services.
