Did T-Rex have wings? : r/askscience - Reddit
2015年2月4日 · If the T. Rex (or any similar dinosaur, for that matter) had wings, there would be skeletal evidence to show for it. Pterosaurs and other flying reptiles had huge, slender bones to support wings. No T. Rex skeleton has been found with these appendages. In addition, a flying dinosaur of that size would've been WAY too heavy for wings to work.

2022年6月26日 · T-rex may have been a Coelosaurid, but we have yet to find ANY skin impressions that suggest it had wings. All of the that we have found till now have shown us small, densely packed scales. Even if it had feathers, that still doesn’t mean we broke it‘s shoulders and twisted the arms 180 degrees.
It's becoming more accepted T-Rex had feathers, is anyone
2022年8月8日 · What is palæontology? Literally, the word translates from Greek παλαιός + ον + λόγος [ old + being + science ] and is the science that unravels the æons-long story of life on the planet Earth, from the earliest monera to the endless forms we have now, including humans, and of the various long-dead offshoots that still inspire today.
ELI5 the arms of a Tyrannosaurus. Why, and how, are they so
Vestigial limbs would not have this because muscle takes a lot of energy to upkeep. So we know T-rex used its arms for something. Leading hypotheses are they were used during the hunt to grapple with a prey; they were used by T-rex to right itself after sleeping on the ground; or they were used while mating, perhaps to hang onto the female.

2021年6月25日 · If the wings were there then they were probably only for balance and would help it speed up on land for short bursts of ambush as we are sure T. Rex was a stealth hunter like a crocodile relying on a few seconds of surprise to catch prey faster than itself. A set of "wings" could have helped with that - it certainly had the hollow bones for it.
Is there any possibility that TRex’s arms are a vestigial feature?
2022年4月22日 · Ostrich wings are not vestigial because they are useless structures per se, nor are they vestigial simply because they have different functions compared to wings in other birds. Rather, what defines ostrich wings as vestigial is that they are rudimentary wings which are useless as wings. The same is true of the forelimbs of a T. rex.
I think the T Rex looked this way. : r/Dinosaurs - Reddit
2022年11月21日 · T-Rex would not have had arm wings, there would be no use for them if they couldn't fly or glide. Yes T-Rex would've definitely had feathers but they probably would've been like peach fuzz or the hairs on an elephant, too small to fossilize and see clearly. This art is neat speculation but highly unlikely it would be possible for arm wings.

2023年9月2日 · But let's go with a 1/20 ratio to go with the heaviest birds, in order to give our T-rex a decent flight. Apparently, an average T-rex was 6000 kg, so that means we need 300 m^2 wings. This is 150 m^2 on each wing. I'll be a little rough here to calculate the size of the wing.
ELI5: Why did t-rex's have such tiny arms, they were so small
Absolutely. On average T-rex had to put on five pounds a day to reach its final adult size. There are also fossils of Triceratops with T-rex teeth embedded in them that their bones had subsequently knitted around: they were attacked while alive, survived and healed. T-rex may gave also scavenged, but they definitely hunted live prey.
These are the skin impressions that definitively prove T. rex didn’t ...
But it's very clear adult T. Rex had minimal or no feathers at all. I don't think feathered dinosaurs are any less cool or scary. T. Rex would still have bone-shattering banana-shaped railroad spikes for teeth with a sense of sight and smell superior to all other dinosaurs, extinct or extant.
