Ten City (derived from intensity) is an American, Chicago, Illinois-based R&B and house music act, that enjoyed a number of club hits and Urban radio hits in the late 1980s and early 1990s and was one of the first exponents of deep house.

"That's the Way Love Is" is a song by Chicago-based dance trio Ten City, released in 1989 by Atlantic Records as a single from their debut album, Foundation (1989). The song was written by the trio and produced by them with Marshall Jefferson.

The Chicago vocal group Ten City was one of the few house units to enjoy mainstream exposure during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Originally called Ragtyme, the trio was formed by vocalist Byron Stingily, guitarist Herb Lawson, and keyboard player Byron Burke, all under the aegis of producer extraordinaire Marshall Jefferson.

Teamed with dance music pioneer Marshall Jefferson, Ten City emerged in the late '80s with two of their biggest hits, "Right Back to You" and "That's the Way Love Is," the latter of which topped Billboard's dance/club chart and cracked the Top Ten of the U.K. pop chart.
