My house has had previous inactive Termite damage but also had a tree fall over right behind the house due to extensive Termite damage in the base of the trunk so worried about them migrating to the house next. Also burnt the stump and it burned for 3 days underground, hoping that got the colony but who knows.

I'm a termite technician but haven't had to spray around chickens before. I intend to do a liquid barrier around my parents house for them but they are concerned about the risks to their chickens. I've tried to research online and found some studies based on Fipronil in chickens but it's all scientific jargon that's hard to follow.

Mar 31, 2022 · How risky it is to go without some type of protection depends on a few factors (age of home, geographic termite pressures, conditions around the home conducive to termite activity, how well any pre construction treatment was done, etc.). When you find termites, I'd advise against only spot/localized treatments.

My termite protection was $900 to do the initial barrier treatment (dig a ditch around the house and pour anti-termite sauce in it) and then $10/month to check the traps quarterly. The latter is required to continue the $1M damage insurance.

This gives it around a 33% chance to spawn in a raid. The more king carapaces you put in the higher chance, but by such a small % increase it’s nearly not worth it.

I started having quarterly pest control come last year, and they're now asking if I want to also have them take care of termite prevention. So far, I haven't had any termite issues with the house, but I do want to be proactive and do what I can to protect the home.

To continue the warranty and keep it active, I have to get a yearly termite inspection done. It costs $200 per inspection . The inspector comes in and spends around 30 minutes around the house checking. No termite has been found.

Termites are not covered in homeowners insurance because the damage they cause is very costly and the insurance companies refuse to take on that liability. Unfortunately, Florida is basically one big termite mound. This is why, like you said, the termite coverage is basically an insurance policy.
