Located in the ancestral Tewa homelands of Northern New Mexico, Tewa Women United is a multicultural and multiracial organization founded and led by Native women.
Staff - Tewa Women United
Corrine Oqua Pi Povi Sanchez, PhD, of San Ildefonso Pueblo is Tewa Women United’s Executive Director. She is currently on sabbatical until July 2025. Dr. Sanchez holds a doctorate in Justice Studies from Arizona State University.

TWU is the only independent Native women’s non-profit organization providing direct services, advocacy, and prevention services within the original boundaries of our Tewa homelands in what is now the Pojoaque-Española Valley of northern New Mexico.

Reproductive Justice - Tewa Women United
As a Native Women-led community-based organization, TWU addresses the challenges of reproductive health and justice for Indigenous women. We believe that every person has the right to a birthing experience that promotes autonomy, dignity, respect, and empowerment for parent, child, and family.

To understand how to navigate the challenges all of us face, it is critical to center and raise Indigenous voices, in particular the voices of our women. As Pueblo/Tewa women, our source of strength has always been our connection to land, spirituality, and culture.
