Thermodynamics Books Recommendations - Physics Stack Exchange
2018年3月21日 · In my judgment, Fundamentals of Engineering Thermodynamics by Moran et al is an excellent book, especially in its coverage of the difficult-to-learn subject of the 2nd law of thermodynamics and entropy. Another good book is Introduction to Engineering Thermodynamics by Smith and Van Ness.
thermodynamics - Recommendations for statistical mechanics …
I recommend the book A Modern Course in Statistical Physics by Reichl. It starts with phenomenological thermodynamics, covers both equilibrium and nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, and discusses a wide range of applications, not only ideal and real gases. Its level of rigor is that of typical books on theoretical physics.

2015年9月4日 · One of the series is called Thermodynamics for Engineers, another is Heat Transfer. The Internet Archive also provides online free access to Schaum's Theory & Problems in Thermodynamics. REA Problem Solvers do much the same in a slightly different format. They do a text called Thermodynamics. Neither of these series will break the bank!

I think The physics department Thermodynamics course based on this book was 2.5 ECTS worth and took 18 lectures. It's also quite cheap, which is a plus! A list of topics (taken from amazon) [I don't really know what the point of this is, since I have no doubt in your ability to search amazon, but it's in the rules...] is. Preface Introduction

2019年9月30日 · On the other hand, the aforementioned book by F. Reif is a widely accepted book not only for the Statistical Mechanics, but for the Thermodynamics also. After that, you can obviously go for "Statistical Physics (Course of Theoretical Physics, Volume 5)" by L. D. Landau and E. M. Lifshitz.

2018年10月4日 · So, a good book to dip into, and read the relevant sections. Finally, I'm going to suggest taking a look at An Introduction to Statistical Mechanics and Thermodynamics by Robert Swendsen (Oxford University Press, 2012), again with some caveats. This is a refreshingly different account of some familiar topics in the area of statistical ...

G. Astarita: Thermodynamics: An Advanced Textbook for Chemical Engineers (Springer 1990). As the title says, this is applied and gives plenty of concrete experimental examples, but at the same time is mathematically rigorous and draws from Truesdell's book above. I. Müller: Thermodynamics (Pitman 1985). Similar in spirit to Truesdell's, but ...

2016年1月1日 · The book is from 2004, so it's not an "old book". It covers, Langevin equations, deriving several versions of the fluctuation dissipation Theorem, Fokker-Planck and Master equations, the protection operator formalism that he introduced for separating out slow deg. of freedom and much more.

Fundaments of Engineering Thermodynamics by Moran et al is, in my judgment, a wonderful book, with lots of challenging examples. It also does a terrific job of covering the 2nd law of thermodynamics, offering two different approaches, including the one that I really like, based on entropy and the Clausius inequality.
Book recommendation for black hole thermodynamics?
2022年10月5日 · My personal favorite is Wald's Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetime and Black Hole Thermodynamics. It is a particularly mathy bok (similar to Wald's GR book, which might be better known for people that do not work with QFTCS), but worth the challenge if you want a solid grasp of QFTCS and BHT.
