2023年11月20日 · I often use the ThinkPad at my desk, attached to a Lenovo ThinkPad Universal ThunderBolt 4 Dock and the whine is constant while connected to the Dock. The laptop is less than two feet from my head in this setup. Moving it farther away hasn't helped.

The Intel P14s machines are known to run overly hot and throttle like crazy, especially with the GPU. I personally owned a P14s G3 Intel and at work we have P14s G4 Intels, both had Nvidia GPUs and both run very hot with poor battery life, the G3 being especially bad.

The P14s is the most powerful 14 inch Thinkpad currently. Even outside the Thinkpad world, I cannot really think of a device which compares to the MBP in terms of cooling, battery and screen. I really wish there was, because basically I want to have MBP hardware and performance but with the option of using Linux.

The platform profile you spoke about ("best power efficiency", "balanced", "best performance") only changes the power target.

2023年9月12日 · Without further ado, my first impressions of the P14s G4 AMD: It’s beautiful. Yay black! The covering almost feels rubberized, like the ThinkPads of yore. Unlike my T460s, and the E14 G2 sitting next to me that I picked up at auction on a whim, these feel very smooth and slippery—the P14s is far less so and has a subtle softness to it.

2021年2月23日 · I’m just assuming future Thinkpads will become less upgradeable along with lower quality materials. I do think the P14s/T14 are durable machines. Barring some CPU or software compatibility issues, I can see the AMD P14s/T14 to be functional for many years. I use this analyze data so it serves my needs perfectly.
