2009年2月17日 · Water hammer arrestors.... In the UPC (Uniform Plumbing Code) they are required on all automatic valves. In the typical house this usually means water lines supplying dishwashers, clothes washers and ice makers. That being said, don't bother. They are basically useless. Even the expensive ones don't really work that well.

2021年8月21日 · Some homes with a check valve at the water meter need the hammer arrestors. I'm not sure how important it is for a well system with a fairly large expansion tank. Perhaps someone else has experience with that. The copper looped in the ground will by type L. They don't make soft copper in M. Often is hammer is an issue, it will be noticeable.

2010年9月28日 · Since the arrester tube has a piston that separates the water from the contained gas, I thought there could be a chance that the tube could be horizontal. I want to put arresters on the hot and cold lines to the clothes washer but the current flexible lines connect to shut-off valves with outlets that go straight down.

BTW, if you get a higher end DW that is rated less the 50db for noise, the water valve closes much slower to eliminate noise. We had a Bosch unit rated around 48 db and you could not hear the water shut on and off.

2011年11月9日 · PEX usually has enough "flexibility" that it will absorb most "water hammer" effects. Unless the hammer arrestor is installed RIGHT AT the source of the hammer it will be ineffective. Most tub/shower valves are serviced without removing the trim plate so any "intergral stops" are never seen or used.

If you get water hammer from hot and cold faucets, close them slower. Or maybe you are closing them extra-fast as a troubleshooting technique.

2008年3月2日 · I don't think that anybody so far has discoverd the REAL reason water hammer arrestors don't work. it is because air disolves in water under pressure, thereby filling the arrester tube with water in a very short time. The best solution to your problem is to get a pressure reducing valve and set it for about 20 lbs less than your existing pressure.
