2025年1月15日 · A boy may be registered up until 30 June of the school year he turns 10 (UK school Year 5). After this the only route of entry will be through scholarships or Sixth Form entry, which open in Year 8 (for Year 9 entry) and Year 11 (for Sixth Form entry).

The Tony Little Centre for Innovation and Research in Learning (CIRL) is unique facility that aims to put us at the forefront of teaching and learning development.

Boys who are studying at a UK independent school, state school, or overseas school may apply for Sixth Form Entry. Any available places will be offered to boys of a high academic standard who are also likely to make a notable contribution to school life in sport or in the arts.

Eton College is a charity for the advancement of education. At its heart sits an independent boys’ boarding school which leads a dynamic range of educational activities and an expanding network of educational partnerships.

We will also offer some boys a Waiting List Place and, if they accept, invite them to come back to Eton in the Summer term of UK School Year 7 for a further assessment. Each year we accept a number of boys on the Waiting List into the School; the number varies from year to year.

Boys as young as five were taught at Eton in the early days. The first proper Boarding House, Jourdelay’s, was built in 1722 to accommodate the growing number of Oppidans. 40 years later, there were 13 Houses, largely run by teachers, known at Eton as Masters.

The essence of our pastoral care lies in the House system, where small Houses (no more than 55 boys in each) enable the House Master and the Dame to get to know boys very well and to tailor their support to meet boys’ individual needs.

Boys normally come to Eton in the September after their 13th birthday, qualifying by success in Common Entrance. There is flexibility over the Common Entrance year for boys with an August birthday and a boy’s best interests in this should be discussed with the Director of Admissions and the Head of his present school.
