45-70 Gov. VS .338 MAG VS .300 Mag. | Long Range Hunting Forum
2013年8月29日 · First comment I am going to make will get me in trouble with the 300 win mag crowd. Any thing the 300 win mag can do, the 338 win mag will do better. This is because of the bullet weight choices avalible. I have killed every thing from deer to elk with both. Given the choice 338 wins every time. What you really need to ask yourself is.
.300 Win/Wea Mag vs 45/70 Govt - The Firing Line Forums
2001年5月30日 · That being said, take with you the rifle that suits the game and hunting conditions that you are likely to face. For North America, the .300 Win mag (or the Weatherby) would certainly get the job done. So would the .30-06, for that matter. For large game in Africa, I would MUCH rather have a .45-70.
300 win. Mag or 45-70? - GON Forum
2013年5月7日 · Keep the .300 Win Mag. Sell the .35 Remington lever gun. It would have no more use for you, since you have the .44 magnum lever gun for small to medium sized animals at close range and you'll use the new .45-70 lever gun for big or …
45-70 Really That Powerful? - The Firing Line Forums
2005年2月1日 · The range limitation of the 45-70 is one of trajectory, NOT killing power or accuracy. The large, heavy bullet of the 45-70 is lethal at surprising ranges and with good range determination and the proper sighting equipment it is quite accurate as well. IIRC, the 45-70 ruled the 1000 yard rifle matches for some time.
HEAVY! Recoil! 45-70 Level 3, VS .458 Win Mag VS .458 Lott, VS …
2002年11月14日 · The .45-70 was designed for black Powder, with Modern Powders and MODERN GUNS the .45-70 approaches .458 Magnum power. The real limiter is your ability to accept the recoil. Usually only used in Marlin 1895s and Ruger #1s, and other strong rifles in the caliber. Level 2 stuff is ok for things like converted Siamese Mausers.
.300 Win Mag VS 375 H&H | Page 2 | Long Range Hunting Forum
2016年7月9日 · Was raised at a hunting lodge. Generally .375h&h is a decent gun, but isn't as good for bear as a .300 win. Has a lot of kinetic shock, but not enough penetration. Switched to .338/.300, and the bears stopped getting back up so much after a clean lung/heart shot. Our. 375 collects dust in preference to a .338 and a 45-70 for brush. Akadventure.com
45-70 vs 375 H&H - The Firing Line Forums
2012年1月7日 · Both are fine rounds, the .45-70 is going to be a little cheaper, and more common. Bullet selection is greater for the .45-70, with a fair number of jacketed and wide variety of cast slugs available. The .375 has 3 basic bullet weights common, and only two of them are currently factory loaded.
30-06 vs. 45-70 -- confused about real-world difference - The …
2002年2月8日 · I have looked at the ballistic charts, and see little difference in muzzle energy between the two cartridges. The .375 H&H Mag, also mentioned frequently as the "category above 30-06" does show almost 2x the muzzle energy (roughly equivalent to the .458 Win Mag), so I do understand the distinction. Between 30-06 and 45-70 I do not.
Rifle choices: 44 Mag. or 45-70 Govt.? - The Firing Line Forums
2015年8月3日 · The 45-70 will shoot flatter with a heavier bullet though neither are that flat. The 44 mag from a rifle will launch a 240 gr 1800-1900 fps and a 300 gr at about 1500 fps from a 20" barrel. The 45-70 in most reloading manuals has 3 different load levels, trap door, lever action, and Ruger #1.Even in trap door power levels you can drive a 400 gr ...
338 Win Mag versus 300 Win Mag - The Firing Line Forums
2014年3月16日 · The .300 win mag case holds a bit more powder as the shoulder is pushed forward more. Also an important consideration is that .300 win mag ammo is quite a bit cheaper than .338. I give the .300 win mag my vote for most versatile North American hunting round.
