Think about it, if the 550i takes 1.2 seconds longer 0-60 than the M5, but is only 1.2 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile, then the 550i would be just as fast as the M5 from 60 to 1/4 mile (110-120 mph).

When I got my first BMW that called for extended OCIs, the BMW oil standard of the day was LongLife-1998 (i.e. LL-98), and BMW required a change every 12 months regardless of how low the mileage was since the last change. When the BMW LL-01 oil specification debuted (oddly enough in 2001), BMW eliminated the annual oil change requirement.

What impressed me about BMW historically is that the suspension is good in almost every setting. Other cars are tuned either for comfort but don't corner well (Benz E500, Genesis) or for performance but give you a jarring ride on bumpy roads (Infiniti M45, Audi A6). BMW 550 has a great balance of comfortable but performance oriented ride.
