Why are German cars considered 'unreliable' in some countries?

German cars are good, Germany builds some of the best cars in the world so I don’t understand why people tell you german cars a crap. Of course there are some vehicles that are shit but overall German cars are good.

Idk how it is in Europe but in America me and my friends will go 90mph down a gravel road in my 2004 Chevy cavalier and be completely fine drifting and doing dumb stuff but if you try and do that in an old bmw everything would break immediately.

German cars need regular maintenance the same like other cars but other brands are more forgiving if you are late with it. Also German cars perform better if you need that extra zip on the autobahn or on the land Straße to move past trucks. If you need a people mover or inner city car any other brand will do

In the US, German cars have the opposite problem: they have to overcome a reputation for being unreliable. I'll use BMW as an example. In the E36 and E46 era they were terrible, those models were known for having cooling systems made of jellybeans, rear subframes made of Swiss cheese, and questionable electronics and build quality.

2022年2月3日 · I’ve had two German cars. A W123 and a 1st gen Vito, might be W638 IIRC. The former was literally the most robust and reliable car I’ve ever owned, besides a bit of rust problems. The latter was one of the most unreliable cars I’ve ever owned, with constant turbo problems and electrical bugs.

The most popular used car as of 2021 in LT - the BMW 3er. Also, Audis and VWs are in the top 5. When asking people who buy these cars you always get - reliability, solid build quality, etc.

2016年8月20日 · What makes a German/European car more expensive other than mystique is the drivetrain, which is more closely related to performance cars than a Camry. This sort of engineering is legitimately more expensive and the margins aren't as high so the cars cost more and cost more to maintain.
