Seems to me that a Robot Coupe is a souped up food processor. Probably better bearings and heavier duty motor which give it a much longer durability and a higher capacity for continuous duty. Most consumer grade stuff uses cheaper motors and crummy bearings.

I found a commercially used Robot Coupe 3 Blixer for 500 (320USD) and retails at 2.2k(1.4k USD). And a R201 ultra for 500 (320USD) which retails at 1.1k (700USD). Could negotiate a bit too on either.
