Before the C8, Chevrolet built the mid-engined CERV III Corvette prototype. Debuting at the 1990 Detroit Auto Show, the CERV III had all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, and a twin-turbocharged 5.7-liter V8 with 655 horsepower.
