The Horsehead (IC434) and Flame nebula (NGC2024) in the constellation of Orion. This is my favorite part of the sky! This is a mainly hydrogen star forming region located 1400 light years away. What makes it unique is the dark nebula (B33) in front of the red hydrogen cloud that produces the obvious horse head shape. The dark Horsehead is about 6 light years in diameter, which gives a great sense of the scale in this image. #nightscape #deepsky #stargazers #astrophotography #astrophoto #astronom
